Not actual bike but similar. It had a rectangular steel fuel tank behind the engine and looked completely homemade, but the coolest thing was the shifter. At first I thought he was trying to keep his pant leg from getting sucked into the chain drive, but when we came to a light he started working the shit out of that thing. I watched in amazement as he took off like a maniac from the light. I covet that bike.

I wonder how all the foot-clutch, jockey-shift guys felt about the new bikes with a hand clutch and foot shift (what we have today)

These new, safe controls are boring. You pay more attention to riding when you have to take your hand of the bars to shift. Not moving my hand feels so disconnected. And putting two feet down while stopped? Where's the skill in that? Making it harder makes you a better rider.

Next thing you know, they'll be putting a third wheel and an automatic transmission on bikes. It's darn ridiculous, I tell you How are you supposed to smoke when both your hands are busy at a stop sign?

Not trying hard enough. I've smoked aboard a bike. In the rain. Where there is a need, these things will happen. BTW, that 40s-era biker is a badass photo.
